Jacquelyn Kent, a Charlotte native and mother of three, will reprise her role as Queen Charlotte at the 10th annual University City Wine Festival on April 11.

Kent, who works in the insurance industry, said she has no acting experience but has returned to the role over the years because she enjoys interacting with audiences.

She first portrayed the British queen after her friend, Shawn Cosner, owner of Third Rock Events, which hosts the wine fest, told her she resembled India Amarteifio, the actress who plays young Queen Charlotte in the popular Netflix series “Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story.”

“I think it’s kind of cool to bring a piece of Charlotte history to an event like that,” Kent said. “It’s a cool mix of something that’s popular culture and then something that’s so truly Charlotte.”
