The community is rallying behind small businesses and local restaurants. Many have closed their doors because of coronavirus concerns.

Co-Founder of Girl Tribe Co. Sarah Baucom closed her retail store on Sunday. Dozens of local businesses in the Charlotte area following suit. Llike Wooden Robot, Doc Porters, The Crunkleton, Lost and Found, 5 Church and Seoul Food Meat Company.

“If they haven’t closed yet, it’s not because they’re not thinking about it, it’s because they can’t. They’re scared of their employees not having a paycheck,” says Baucom.

Corri Smith, a small business owner herself, knew she had to help keep others afloat. With her partner, launching a website Sunday called: https://www.supportlocalorelse.com/

“It’s a free website for local businesses to create a campaign or a promotion. A way for Charlotteans to support them remotely,” says owner of Black Wednesday Corri Smith.

More than 40 local businesses have signed up. It shows how you can help. Whether it’s ordering online, buying gift cards, curbside pickup, to-go orders and free shipping.

Governor Roy Cooper has requested the U.S. Small Business Administration grant a disaster declaration for businesses in the state that are taking an economic hit. The declaration would provide low-interest loans to help businesses meet financial obligations and operating expenses.
