Riders Spend Additional $13M in Charlotte as Lyft Opens Hub Lite in Charlotte

January 24, 2019

Lyft has announced its annual Economic Impact Report in Charlotte alongside the news of the Charlotte Hub Lite at 1427 South Blvd. The report measured the benefits Charlotte residents and their communities have seen when it’s easy to get a reliable, affordable ride around their city. In 2018 alone, riders spent an additional $13M in the local Charlotte economy due to the availability of Lyft. As a response to this growth in the Charlotte market, Lyft is also pleased to announce the opening of a Hub Lite location to service its expansive driver community.

As the official Charlotte Lyft headquarters for drivers, the new Hub Lite service center will provide a community space for training, troubleshooting and recruiting resources to the city’s thousands of Lyft drivers. It will also facilitate the opportunity for drivers to engage with the Lyft Charlotte team, an important benefit to local operations.

Lyft began as an unconventional way to improve transportation and connect communities by helping people share the ride. Since then, Lyft has become a critical part of and partner with city transportation. The report indicates that companies like Lyft are increasingly helping create a seamless city living experience by making it easier for people to get around and experience Charlotte.

“Every day, people are using Lyft in Charlotte as a way to connect with their community, support local businesses, and commute more efficiently. This is having a dramatic and real impact on our city by enabling riders to move around seamlessly and drivers to earn on their own time,” said Lauren Pelletier, Lyft Market Manager for Charlotte. “We are so excited to open our doors to local Lyft community, this is an important step towards providing greater support and service for them as we continue to support our Charlotte community.”

Some of the benefits cities have seen from Lyft can be attributed to partnerships with CATS and the Independent Brewers Alliance, which have continued to help the Charlotte community by providing affordable and reliable transportation options.
