Postino WineCafe will soon be calling The Bowl at Ballantyne home.

Co-founder Lauren Bailey confirms the all-day neighborhood restaurant and wine café is set to open a 5,213-square-foot space in late summer. The 198-seat restaurant, with a 56-seat patio, will be at 15210 Bowl St., Suite 103.

That restaurant will open following one slated to debut in Raleigh in early summer.

For Bailey, Postino is about creating that third place — a spot outside of work or home where people can connect or disconnect, spend time with friends, with loved ones to talk about the big decisions or share moments, or just to slip away for a glass of wine in the face of a busy day.

Many of its boutique wines are proprietary to the Postino brand. It works with high-end winemakers to track production seasons and bring things into the fold.

“There will be a lot of varietals that you already know and some that you may have never had before,” she says.

Postino offers 30-plus wines by the glass, seven days a week, for $6 until 5 p.m. It builds on European culture where drinking wine at lunch is not a crime, Bailey says.

Most of the menu is shareable. There’s the signature bruschetta with 12 different choices. Think salami and pesto; sweet n’ spicy pepper jam and goat cheese; warm artichoke spread; Mexican street corn; or brie, apple and fig spread. Popular “Snacky Things” include roasted mushroom fondue; skewers of grilled petite filet or chicken over a Sicilian garlic yogurt with olive oil; seasonal burrata; and a variety of vegetable, charcuterie and cheese boards…
