This fast-casual salad joint will add an uptown location next spring.

Chopt Creative Salad Co. has leased a 3,048-square-foot space in the historic Johnston Building. It is located at 212 S. Tryon St., formerly occupied by Fifth Third Bank.

Chopt’s menu includes globally inspired salads and veggie dishes by utilizing authentic flavors.

There are options such as the California Steakhouse, Classic Cobb and Mediterranean Falafel. Every 60 days the brand also debuts new selections inspired by different regions.

Customers also can craft their own salad creation, picking from a variety of salad greens, cheeses and toppings, such as gold and purple beets or roasted seasonal squash.

Chopt offers 18 scratch-made dressings, including the Mexican Goddess, which is avocado based, and the Basil Mint Vinaigrette.

The brand also builds partnerships with regional artisans and purveyors like Lenny Boy Kombucha, Holly Grove Dairy and Roots Hummus.

The uptown location marks Chopt’s fourth in the Queen City since 2015. That includes Park Road Shopping Center as well as the Blakeney and Arboretum shopping complexes.

“Our growth in North Carolina has been incredibly exciting,” says Colin McCabe, Chopt co-founder.

The company has said previously it sees room for as many as 10 locations in the greater Charlotte market over the next several years.

Adam Williams, principal at Legacy CRE, represented the owner in the transaction.
