New York-style neighborhood cafe. It’s part organic Mediterranean sandwich and salad bar, part juice bar and part wine bar.
MERE’S
European-inspired cheese and wine shop in Dilworth. MERE’s offers a large variety of cheeses and charcuterie, specialty boards and featured sandwiches along with wine and craft beer.
Common Market South End
Neighborhood market and deli. It’s located on Tremont Ave near Bang Bang and Zeppelin.
Skrimp Shack
Fried fish chain positioning itself as the “Five Guys of seafood”
Pour Taproom
Hoppin’-style self-serve bar (118 taps) with locations in places like Durham, Asheville and Charleston.
Groucho’s Deli
Groucho’s opened in Columbia, South Carolina, in 1941 and serves cold and hot deli sandwiches, salads piled high with cheese and meats and a delicious dipping sauces.
Nuvole Rooftop TwentyTwo
Rooftop bar and restaurant on the 22nd floor of a new dual-branded AC Hotel / Residence Inn project at the EpiCentre. It’s a 4,400-square-foot space with a large U-shaped bar, floor-to-ceiling windows, firepits and a 2,200-square-foot outdoor patio.
Legion Brewing SouthPark
The 12,000-square-foot SouthPark space features a two-story taproom with 40 taps, an upscale bar bites menu, a 20-person circular bar on the first floor and a more relaxed vibe on the second.
EastSide Local Eatery
Coffee shop and neighborhood restaurant featured salads, juices, smoothies, soups, sandwiches, pastries, avocado toast and and NC nut butter toast.
Town Brewing
Right next door to Rhino Market, the brewery (24 taps) is housed in a roughly 11,000-square-foot space that has played home to an auto garage and industrial equipment supplier.
The Waterman
Two-story, oyster-themed restaurant and bar with a rooftop terrace from Paul Manley, the brains behind Sea Level in Uptown.
Your Mom’s Donuts
This popular Matthews-based bakery is now open in the space formerly occupied by the Key Shop in Park Road Shopping Center.
Sabor Latin Street Grill
New South End location now open in the space formerly occupied by Fidelli Kitchen.
Cava

Sukoshi
Projected Opening: November 2018
Concept: Grab-and-go sushi restaurant based on styles and flavors from O-Ku. The Indigo Road, parent company of O-Ku Sushi and Oak Steakhouse, is bringing a fast-casual version of O-Ku to a 2,000-square-foot of space in the heart of Uptown fronting Tryon Street near Bank of America Plaza. Don’t expect your normal takeout sushi. They’ll offer specialty rolls, sashimi, nigiri and dim sum dumplings along with poke bowls, salads and craft beer/sake for the after work crowd.

Sweet Lew’s BBQ
Projected Opening: December 2018
Concept: Barbecue joint. The fare will be authentic old-school North Carolina barbecue, cooked over hickory and pecan wood. Don’t expect anything super fancy. Think Price’s Chicken Coop but with some seating.
Location: Belmont, 923 Belmont Ave.

The Crunkleton
Projected opening: December 2018
Concept: Classy cocktail bar and restaurant. This will be Gary Crunkleton’s second cocktail bar. The original Crunkleton on Franklin Street in Chapel Hill has garnered national attention, most recently being named one of the Six Best Bourbon Bars in the South by Garden & Gun magazine. It’s legit, and this is a big deal for Charlotte’s bar scene.

Ilios Crafted Greek
Projected Opening: December 2018
Concept: Fast casual Greek restaurant from the team behind popular restaurant Ilios Noche.
Location: South End, on the corner of Church Street and West Summit near Wooden Robot.
N.C. Red
Projected Opening: December 2018
Concept: Latest restaurant from Bruce Moffett, the owner of Charlotte staples like Good Food, Stagioni and Barrington’s. The menu will consist of Southern food (think fried chicken) and New England food (think lobster roll).
Location: Plaza Midwood, 1205 Thomas Ave.
Barcelona Wine Bar
Projected Opening: Early 2019
Concept: Popular Spanish tapas and wine bar chain with a chic European vibe. Barcelona combines rustic, classic Spanish and Mediterranean flavors with other influences from North Africa and Southern France, and the result is a delicious array of tapas, dried savory meat and Spanish cheeses that pair well with the wide selection of wine from Barcelona’s expansive menu.

Idlewild
Projected Opening: Early 2019
Concept: Cozy cocktail bar. They won’t have a menu — you just tell them what you’re looking for and they’ll make it.
Location: NoDa, 424 East 36th St.
Pinhouse
Projected Opening: February 2019
Concept: Self-serve bar. The two-story, 6,036-square-foot space will feature four duckpin bowling lanes and 70 taps. For comparison, Hoppin’ is 4,600 square feet and has 60 taps. Pinhouse will also have a large outdoor space, plenty of large TVs, a putting green, about 30 parking spaces and food trucks. In terms of the user experience, Pinhouse will use the same iPourIt dispense technology with wristbands as Hoppin’.
Location: Pinhouse is taking the space formerly occupied by Midwood Cleaners in Plaza Midwood. The exact address is 2306 Central Ave., two blocks away from Resident Culture Brewing.

Snooze
Project Opening: Early 2019
Concept: Snooze A.M. Eatery is a popular Denver-based breakfast, lunch and brunch spot. Snooze has 30+ locations with most in Colorado, California, Arizona and Texas. According to their website, this will be Snooze’s first east coast location.
Location: Plaza Midwood, 1331 Central Ave. (same building as the new Yafo).

Lower Left Brewing
Projected Opening: Early 2019
Concept: In terms of beer, Lower Left Brewing Co. will have 4-6 core beers available year round including a New England IPA, tropical IPA, American pale ale, blonde ale, amber ale and a porter or stout. The brewhouse will be 1,200 square feet and the taproom will be about 900 square feet. Expect front and rear outdoor seating, lawn games, live music and a dedicated kids area. The brewery will not have food, but there will be prepackaged snacks for sale, popcorn and a rotating food truck lineup.
Location: The exact address is 4528 Nations Crossing Road — within walking distance of Olde Mecklenburg Brewery, Sugar Creek Brewing and Brewers at 4001 Yancey.

Concept: Dinner and drink spot to start, with brunch on the weekends. he menu’s still in the rough draft stages, but you can expect something like Seoul Food where you pick from a list of meats and vegetables. There will be fried chicken, pulled pork, brisket and other meats.

Concept: Look for a simple menu – Chicken sandwich, slaw, salad and fries — plus a custom beer from Hyde Brewing. The chicken is brined and then buttermilk-soaked before being seasoned with salt and pepper, floured and deep-fried.

Projected Opening: Early 2019
Concept: Bakery and market from Rooster’s owner Jim Noble. Copain will offer bakery items like bread, breakfast pastries, pies and cakes as well as grab-and-go sandwiches, soups, seasonal salads, vegetables, proteins, complete meals, wine, coffee and more. Customers will have the option of online ordering and Copain will also offer a curated selection of kitchen and home goods just in case you need a quick gift with your baguette and bottle of wine.

Hawkers Asian Street Food
Projected Opening: Early 2019
Concept: Orlando-based Asian restaurant inspired by hawker stalls of southeast Asia. Hawkers’ menu features “the best and most popular street foods from all over Asia,” including Singapore “Chilli” crab, Filipino-style crispy chicken skins and noodle soups. The menu is divided into five main categories: small plates, noodle soups, salads, noodles, and rice dishes.

Pins Mechanical Company
Projected Opening: Early 2019
Concept: Pins Mechanical Company, a popular social house, has games like foosball, pinball, duckpin bowling, ping pong and bocce. 16-Bit Bar+Arcade has pretty much every classic arcade game from the 80s & 90s. Rise Brands, the parent company, will develop both concepts next to each other. Both have quality cocktails on top of an extensive beer list (custom curated, no “paid for” stuff here). And it’s all housed in a massive and beautiful facility with modern rustic decor in a gient 20,000 square foot space.
