Crews are expected to break ground on the Katie Blessing Center, a new mental health facility for children and teens in east Charlotte, by the end of the summer or early fall.

There’s not a lot to look at currently, but the place comes with promise.

“They’re going to heal here. We’re going to keep them out of jails,” said Jamie Bearor, Director of Strategic Planning for the Katie Blessing Foundation, StarMed’s non-profit.

Bearor’s brother had nothing like it growing up.

“They didn’t know what to do with him because he had a lot of behavior problems, so they put him in the basement of the school,” said Bearor…

Bearor is the director of strategic planning for the Katie Blessing Foundation, StarMed’s non-profit.

The foundation is working to create a $63 million pediatric mental health facility in east Charlotte.
