Novant Health is investing in a multimillion-dollar behavioral health facility that will serve the Charlotte area’s adolescent population.

The Winston-Salem health-care system invested $2.5 million to help with the construction of a behavioral health urgent care at the Katie Blessing Center, a child and adolescent psychiatric facility soon to be located on 5 acres at 5516 Central Ave. in east Charlotte.

Michael Estramonte, founder of the Katie Blessing Center, said the unit will treat children ages 4 and older who are experiencing a behavioral health crisis, including mental health disorders, autism and/or an intellectual and developmental disabilities diagnosis with co-occurring conditions. It also will treat substance use disorders.
