Mike Libretto, owner of both Coaltrane’s Char & Grill and Libretto’s Pizzeria, is expected to open up Coaltrane’s second location the second week of October in the former John’s Country Kitchen space at 1518 Central Ave.

Libretto and his business partner Mario Flynn, who owns Pint Central and Neighborhood Theatre, have been eyeing the spot in Plaza Midwood for years.

“Once John’s closed in 2015, we knew that was the perfect spot,” said Libretto.

The 1,600 square-foot space has been completely gutted and will be two stories. Downstairs will have more of a fast casual experience while the upstairs mezzanine and roof deck will be more of a full-service restaurant.

“Upstairs, you can sit and relax, hang out on your laptop, have some drinks and enjoy the weather,” said Libretto.

The new Coaltrane’s location will have the same menu as the first location in the EpiCentre with popular items such as the Fresco Bowl, Rotisserie Chicken, Stuffed Avocado and more. The main difference between the two locations will be the atmosphere.
