CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — The Katie Blessing Center broke ground Tuesday on a first-of-its-kind pediatric and adolescent behavioral health facility in east Charlotte.

Led by the Katie Blessing Foundation, the nonprofit aims to create a specialized space for children and teens navigating mental health challenges.

The groundbreaking ceremony, held from 4 to 6 p.m. kicked off construction on a center that’s been described as both “urgent” and “long overdue.” Phase one is set to open in spring 2026 and will include 48 inpatient beds and a six-chair behavioral health urgent care, serving kids ages 5–17.
