Projected Opening: January

Concept: Cozy cocktail bar. They won’t have a menu — you just tell them what you’re looking for and they’ll make it.

Location: NoDa, 424 E. 36th St.

Peppervine

Projected Opening: January

Concept: New American restaurant from the owners of Banner Elk’s Artisanal. Peppervine’s menu will include dishes like pimento cheese scones, Alaskan king crab, Berkshire pork ribs, squid ink bucatini with charred octopus, lemon gnocchi, smoked Pekin duck breast, scallops and dry-aged ribeye.

Barcelona Wine Bar

Projected Opening: January

Concept: Popular Spanish tapas and wine bar chain with a chic European vibe. Barcelona combines rustic, classic Spanish and Mediterranean flavors with other influences from north Africa and southern France, and the result is a delicious array of tapas, dried savory meat and Spanish cheeses that pair well with the wide selection of wine from Barcelona’s expansive menu.

Bar Marcel

Projected Opening: January

Concept: Italian restaurant with international influences from the team behind Vivace.

Location: SouthPark, 3920 Sharon Road (Morrison Shopping Center)

The Manchester

Projected Opening: January

Concept: Modern gastropub with a rustic English flare from he folks behind Essex Bar & Bistro and The Local in Uptown. The “refined American” menu will include a prime steak and cheese sandwich, signature lobster roll, 16-ounce prime ribeye and maple-glazed pork belly or shrimp and lobster risotto. Fun fact: The Agenda has also learned that there may be a speakeasy-style “secret room” with specialty cocktails.

Location: South End, 1812 South Blvd (taking the former Liberty space)

Ilios Crafted Greek

Projected Opening: January

Concept: Fast casual Greek restaurant from the team behind popular restaurant Ilios Noche.

Location: South End, on the corner of Church Street and West Summit near Wooden Robot.

The Dunavant

Projected Opening: February 2019

Concept: It’s a $25 steak & bottomless fries restaurant. The Dunavant is dining driven with a restaurant-first, bar-second focus. Charlotte seems to only have high-end steak or chain restaurant steak options. This aims to hit a middle ground. The menu will feature a simple steak and fries style, prix fixe menu similar to something like Medium Rare in Washington DC.

Location: South End, 2322 Dunavant St. It’s near King of Pops and the intersection of Hawkins and Dunavant — walkable to Sycamore.

Hawkers Asian Street Food

Projected Opening: February 5

Concept: Orlando-based Asian restaurant inspired by hawker stalls of southeast Asia. Hawkers’ menu features “the best and most popular street foods from all over Asia,” including Singapore “Chilli” crab, Filipino-style crispy chicken skins and noodle soups. The menu is divided into five main categories: small plates, noodle soups, salads, noodles and rice dishes.

Pinhouse

Projected Opening: February 2019

Concept: Self-serve bar. The two-story, 6,036-square-foot space will feature four duckpin bowling lanes and 70 taps. For comparison, Hoppin’ is 4,600 square feet and has 60 taps. Pinhouse will also have a large outdoor space, plenty of large TVs, a putting green, about 30 parking spaces and food trucks. In terms of the user experience, Pinhouse will use the same iPourIt dispense technology with wristbands as Hoppin’.

Location: Pinhouse is taking the space formerly occupied by Midwood Cleaners in Plaza Midwood. The exact address is 2306 Central Ave., two blocks away from Resident Culture Brewing.

Protagonist Clubhouse

Projected Opening: Winter 2019

Concept: This new brewery and taproom leased 1,700 square feet of space on the corner of North Davidson and East 35th streets. It’s the space formerly occupied by NoDa Grocery in the same complex as Popbar.

Location: Fat City Lofts in NoDa

Optimist Hall

Projected Opening: Spring 2019

Concept: Giant food hall with a bunch of different food and drink concepts. If you’re familiar with Krog Street Market and Ponce City Market in Atlanta, UrbanSpace in New York City or Morgan Street Food Hall in Raleigh, you can get a pretty good idea of what to expect here. It’s going to be incredible.

Location: 340 E. 16th St.

Lincoln St. Kitchen & Cocktail

Projected Opening: Spring 2019

Concept: Cocktail bar from Craft owner Dan Davis. It’ll be in the 3,000-square-foot space next door formerly occupied by Lady M. The concept is relatively straightforward: Take what everyone loves about Craft and create a complementary sister project with a focus on wine, whiskey and small plates.

Location: 1320 S. Church St.

NC Red

Projected Opening: Spring 2019

Concept: Latest restaurant from Bruce Moffett, the owner of Charlotte staples like Good Food, Stagioni and Barrington’s. The menu will consist of Southern food (think fried chicken) and New England food (think lobster roll).

Location: Plaza Midwood, 1205 Thomas Ave.

Sushi Bar at Clean Catch

Projected Opening: Spring 2019

Concept: Eight- to 10-seat, u-shaped sushi bar inside of Clean Catch. To run the sushi program, Clean Catch hired Jesse Vang, previously the sous chef at O-Ku. Sushi is currently being served Wednesday through Sunday right now.

Location: Myers Park, 2820 Selwyn Ave.

Snooze

Project Opening: Spring 2019

Concept: Snooze A.M. Eatery is a popular Denver-based breakfast, lunch and brunch spot. Snooze has more than 30 locations with most in Colorado, California, Arizona and Texas. According to their website, this will be Snooze’s first east coast location.

Location: Plaza Midwood, 1331 Central Ave. (same building as the new Yafo).

Lower Left Brewing

Projected Opening: Spring 2019

Concept: In terms of beer, Lower Left Brewing Co. will have four to six core beers available year round including a New England IPA, tropical IPA, American pale ale, blonde ale, amber ale and a porter or stout. The brewhouse will be 1,200 square feet, and the taproom will be about 900 square feet. Expect front and rear outdoor seating, lawn games, live music and a dedicated kids area. The brewery will not have food, but there will be prepackaged snacks for sale, popcorn and a rotating food truck lineup.

Location: The exact address is 4528 Nations Crossing Road — within walking distance of Olde Mecklenburg Brewery, Sugar Creek Brewing and Brewers at 4001 Yancey.

Room & Board

Projected Opening: Spring 2019

Concept: Dinner and drink spot to start, with brunch on the weekends. The menu’s still in the rough-draft stages, but you can expect something like Seoul Food where you pick from a list of meats and vegetables. There will be fried chicken, pulled pork, brisket and other meats.

Pins Mechanical Company

Projected Opening: Spring 2019

Concept: Pins Mechanical Company, a popular social house, has games like foosball, pinball, duckpin bowling, ping pong and bocce. 16-Bit Bar+Arcade has pretty much every classic arcade game from the ’80s and ’90s. Rise Brands, the parent company, will develop both concepts next to each other. Both have quality cocktails on top of an extensive beer list (custom curated, no “paid for” stuff here). And it’s all housed in a massive and beautiful facility with modern rustic decor in a giant 20,000-square-foot space.

Pepperbox Doughnuts

Projected Opening: Spring 2019

Concept: Chef-driven doughnuts. Flavors include s’mores, rhubarb vanilla bean, blackberry candied kiwi, crème brûlée, Mexican hot chocolate and blueberry white chocolate.

Location: South End, Design Center

Noble Smoke

Projected Opening: Summer 2019

Concept: Jim Noble, the restaurateur behind Rooster’s Wood-Fired Kitchen and King’s Kitchen, has a new venture in the works — a massive barbecue restaurant in an old bus storage facility on the west side

Bossy Beaut’s Chicken Shack

Projected Opening: Summer 2019

Concept: Look for a simple menu — Chicken sandwich, slaw, salad and fries — plus a custom beer from Hyde Brewing. The chicken is brined and then buttermilk-soaked before being seasoned with salt and pepper, floured and deep-fried.

Copain

Projected Opening: Summer 2019

Concept: Bakery and market from Rooster’s owner Jim Noble. Copain will offer bakery items like bread, breakfast pastries, pies and cakes as well as grab-and-go sandwiches, soups, seasonal salads, vegetables, proteins, complete meals, wine, coffee and more. Customers will have the option of online ordering, and Copain will also offer a curated selection of kitchen and home goods just in case you need a quick gift with your baguette and bottle of wine.

The Eagle Food & Beer Hall

Projected Opening: Summer 2019

Concept: Rustic-chic, Cincinnati-based restaurant with total of four locations serving fried chicken and other classic Southern food.

Location: South End, Atherton Mill

Flower Child

Projected Opening: Summer 2019

Concept: Popular health food restaurant with several locations throughout the southwest and California. The menu features bowls, salads and wraps made with responsibly sourced health foods like sustainable salmon, grass-fed beef and organic non-GMO tofu.

Location: South End, 1537 Camden Road (space formerly occupied by Phat Burrito)

Southern Solstice Brewing

Projected Opening: Summer 2019

Concept: This new will open down the street from Unknown Brewing near Bank of America Stadium. Expect a 3,200-square-foot taproom and a 1,800-square-foot front patio. “I like to use rare and hard to find malts,” Tim told the Agenda. “We’ll have some unicorns in the IPA realm.” Expect English style beers, pale ales and IPAs. There are no plans to have flagship beers, everything will rotate. Oh, and they’re also purchasing a food truck that will focus on “classy bar food that doesn’t break the bank.”

The Fairwood 226

Projected Opening: Summer 2019

Concept: Restaurant and bar. Expect a “bar centric” atmosphere that offers guests beer, wine and liquor, as well as a kitchen that stays open until 2 a.m.

Location: South End at 226 Fairwood, a short walk away from Triple C and also within walking distance of The Suffolk Punch and Lenny Boy Brewing.

Queen City Pour House

Projected Opening: Summer 2019

Concept: Restaurant and bar. Expect plenty of TVs, open garage doors, elevated bar food, straightforward cocktails and plenty of beer on tap.

Indaco

Projected Opening: Summer 2019

Concept: Indigo Road, the restaurant group behind O-Ku Charlotte and Oak Steakhouse, will launch this Italian restaurant. The Italian restaurant will be named Indaco Charlotte. It’ll be Indaco’s second location; the original is in Charleston. Indaco Charleston is a hit.
